Cui resistite fortes fide
The top set look like something you would expect to see in your maiden Aunt's front parlour! A little effeminate for my liking.
Don't go there Father.
We have the Italian High Mass set, pictured at the top of your post, and I must say it always provokes comment among the faithful, mostly favourable. It is also quite light to wear, which is another point in its favour.
Dear Fr Blake, I would like to add one more photo of Italian High Mass Set - also extraordinary and not so colorful.... http://www.zygzak.eu/szaty_liturgiczne_liturgical_vestments.php?view=preview&category=12&image=553
Father, You may wish to check out: www.catholicliturgicals.comI have purchased their things many times and they get things to me within a couple of weeks from India to the States. Their quality is not as good, but the price is right! Grace and Peace,Fr. S.
Fr Blake, only one more comment about that Italian...We understand that the Italian High Mass Set (pictured at the top) provokes different comments, just because it isn't just usual set. One talented woman worked on it 1,5 year. Unfortunately, mostly people who doesn't know how to do that, doesn't respect that kind of work. We are very proud, because we can do that - and we can do that good.
