Gay couple design their baby

I found this here.
At the heart of all religions is the movement from self to other, it is the basis of the "Great Commandment", it is what Jesus is about. It is also what marriage is about, it is at the heart of what the Church is saying when it teaches about marriage being open to the "gift" of children.
Here a child is seen as an accessory, a commodity, an object fufilling the desires of this couple. What will happen when the child no longer fits in with his parents desires?

I am shaking my head in disbelief! I did think it must be a wind up, a left over from April the 1st.

It is very sad the exploitation of children who are seen here as nothing but a commodity. The one chap ironically called Adam! Says we want a boy with blue eyes and black hair and we are paying £100,000 for it! They are so removed fromm the reality of life that it beggars belief.

Was Hitler not condemned for trying to create a perfect made to order race?

Sick and sickening.

"As long as we get a healthy baby." And what if they don't? Our of our children, now aged 43, has PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and has brought great joy to us and his siblings, three of whom have become nurses working in the field of mental handicap. After a period of adjustment our son has been one of the greatest blessings of our marriage.

I am speechless. This is so so sad. 'We've got the chance to choose what we want' one of the young men said. This seems to echo much of society today - we want that so we are going to get it come what may.

'We have got it (sic!) for the rest of our lives' said one. And I thought that we bring children into the world to teach them to become individuals and independant - we do not own them. Children are indeed a gift from God.

They also seem rather obsessed that 'As long as we have a healthy baby' everything will be ok. Even healthy babies get mumps, measles, chicken pox, broken limbs etc. How will they cope then? And if the child develops later a life threatening disease, do they give him back?

As Fr Ray says - What happens when the child no longer fits in with his parents desires? Normally parents can give unconditional love to their children - will they be able to do this? This is all so so sad.

Out of their own mouths:

"We want, we want, we want."
"It."
"We're not normal people."

I am only surprised they are not manufacturing a child to be non-heterosexual.

That, of course, is if the embryo is the right sex and is allowed to go to term.

Is there a patron saint, ie St Joseph, assigned officially for the unborn?

My sickometer just went off the scale.

Sadly, the sexuality of these two gentlemen is not particularly relevant in this matter. I personally know two heterosexual couples who have precisely the same attitude towards children.

I'm not particularly exercised by a person's sexuality. What turns my stomach, and fills me with rage, is the way that young children are increasingly treated as accessories, only to be abandoned to their own devices as soon as they stop being "cute".

This is so gross. I couldn't watch it all.

HSE should be notified,a distinct danger of choking over the Cornflakes.

Another stunt to save the jobs of Chiles & Bleakley.

As Stephen mentioned, the sexual orientation of the couple is irrelevant and it should not detract from the issue at hand: the manipulation of life to create a baby to fit someone's wants.

I am hugely blessed to belong to a very loving family but some of my former school chums were not so fortunate. Tolerated at home during holidays, their parents shipped them back as soon as possible, because having children around interfered with mummy and daddy's life.

There is a car sticker which proclaims "A dog is not just for Christmas". There should be another one saying, "A child is not a convenience".

Right, so we've voiced our disapproval...Have The Argus rang yet?

Have they even stopped to listen to themselves??? "They can't say it's not wanted it is costing enough" And here was I thinking that the gift of a child is the fruit of the love between a man and a woman, not between a man and his credit card.
We should probably in Christian charity pray for these two deluded souls.

At the risk of attracting opprobrium and contempt, I would hazard the view that sexual orientation is very much not irrelevant in this case. They want a boy "because that is who we are".
Certainly they want a girl later so that they can put on the veneer of a happy "family", but I'm not convinced. Neither do I for an instant imagine that the "couple's" "union" will last that long.

"We want, we want, we want"....As I recall when once reading a book about St. Padre Pio, he actually stated, "The devil's name is not "satan" nor "lucifer", but "I want"...thought I might share that little insight. thanks, RosaMaria...

Self-promotion seems to be an issue here also - which does not bode well for the future of the children

Choose a child? Look at them - they can't even be trusted to choose a shirt.

Why don't they do what all normal gay men do and get themselves a cat or two? Isn't that is what cats are for?

Laurence England said...

I'm not sure I'd trust them with cats. Any old cat wouldn't do. They'd pay £100,000 to a vet to get a cat that resembled the owners.
