Newman beatification: a date


Cardinal John Henry Newman will be beatified in Birmingham, England, on 2nd May next year!

This is what the Vatican proposes, agreement from the Bishop's Conference is awaited.

What is the difference between Venerable and Blessed?
How wonderful that he should be beatified in Birmingham. I first learnt about him at the Maryvale Institute.

It could well take that long if it is to mesh in with a possible visit of the Holy Father to UK next year. The logistics of a Papal State visit are being discussed. That much was admitted some months ago.
