I hope I can blog tomorrow

... and we don't dissappear into a blackhole of our own making.

I am English, I don't quite understand why particles need excelerating, or what its benefits are for mankind. I suppose it is irrational to question, we have to believe in the highpriests of science.

thanks to Laurence England for sending the video.

It's another scare story like the millenium bug.

There is nothing wrong with seeking out this kind of knowledge. And it is a good thing to understand it. The quest does not involve cruelty to anyone or anything.

The trouble comes because people start imagining that science can answer every question. If this experiment discovers anything,it will also open up an whole new set of questions, which is what always happens in such circumstances. Science can never be finite.

I loved the video !

Why, I wonder, do I suspect that nothing will happen, and that the scientists will go on insisting for months, possibly years, that their experiment has been a great success ?

Of course, I could be wrong ...

Particle acceleration experiments help scientists to discover things like chemo- and radiotherapy, medical imaging and other useful things we'll only see in another 20 or 30 years.

It's also worthwhile for it's own sake. God saw all that He had made, and indeed it was very good. If very good, then worth discovering.

Yes it does seem a bit "so what ?". But, my son came gome from school, yesterday, having spent Science wactching a detailed documentary about this experiment (to which I confess, I was only half listening, half-thinking, " why don`t they just teach them about WHO created the BB in the first place.") But, he (science is his favourite subject) was very enthusiastic about it because, he said, at last, the scientists might realize that they do not have all the answers, and that at some point, someone is going to have to finally address the WHO did it question, and stop evading it, as Prof Hawkins does so deftly each time he is asked...
I don`t know because I genuinely do not understand what the point of this experiment is.. but clearly there IS a point for people of a certain intellgence, and I think God might be able to use that to finally break through into their prison of unbelief. If that makes any unscientific sense whatsoever.

Let us recreate the Big Bang.

Let us do what God did.

Let us be as gods.

Sounds a bit Tower of Babel to me, and also like a giant waste of cash.

Scare stories are all we are allowed,it's the only thing that sells papers.

Going away for a couple of weeks is blessed relief from the British Media.

How can we understand about particle physics when we cannot even be taught how to spell?

We are constantly fed with garbage to keep our simple minds off what is really being done to us.
