Why is he casting pearls before swine?

"The U.S. out of the U.N. and the U.N. out of the U.S." is my motto.

I did not warm to Mr Moon I have to say. I thought his intro was somewhat arrogant. His "meditation room" and "we have an altar too" seemed a little strange. What on earth do they sacrifice on that altar? Surely a little "sacred" table with some scented candles "for the multitudinous gods of one and many who cares because it don't matter anyway" would seem more appropriate. All very strange. I thought the contrast with the Jewish children at the synagog and the UN children was rather insightful. One group warm and engaged, the other, blank. Great speech to the UN. I'm afraid it will be a case of "pearls and swine" though. I can only hope that some were opened to the higher perspective also the rousing welcome given by the non-diplomatic staff did warm my heart.

Yes, but that's something that can be said about the Pope's whole US trip.

I think those of us outside of the US, including the Pope, are quite aware of the failings of the UN, but we recognise it is the only universal forum for dialogue, and therefore the only source of restraint on the most powerful nations. Therefore it has unique value.

Oh Karen , much as I adore you I wish your love of the Gospel would guide you into political recognition that 'the enemy' is our neighbour and their ideals aren't necessarily evil even if their means are deludely so...
His Holiness inspired, coerced, pricked consciences...reminded them of their moral aims and their duties/responsibilities to all they are consigned to protect.
Our Lord and Saviour was not Paul Wolfowitz in a beard and Fox News is not the televised sermon on the mount.

Ma Tucker, a little information on what they sacrifice on that table in the meditation room.

It varies, but at the moment they're sacrificing Zimbabweans and Tibetans.
