We had to put up one Brother in the bathroom

There is a nice little piece in the Catholic Herald on the growing Manchester Premonstratensions.

They're a wonderful lot. I attended Mass at Corpus Christi Basilica, Miles Platting on a chance visit to Manchester for a meeting on the Feast of Corpus Christi a year or so before the feast was summarily translated to a following Sunday.

Miles Platting was some way from where my meeting was held, but for some unexplained reason I decided to go to Mass there. What a divine moment. Quarant Ore was to start that day and the floor of the basilica was covered with a carpet of flowers. At the time there were two young novices there. Please God this great order will get moroe vocations - and rooms to house them in their new home.

Didn't they close a church/community in Manchester two years ago and lose/disperse some men? It's not as if we have too many vocations.....

So maybe not quite so welcoming?

I attend Mass at St. Chad's quite often and they are a great bunch. I am sure some join and some leave - all monasteries have that - would be wrong if they didn't. They have four men in formation and a friend of mine wants to join but has been asked to wait, so all in all good news. Let's pray they find a good benefactor.

They did have some trouble at the beginning. They're a new community that has grown out of an old one, but at the moment they seem to be attracting people and they have four brothers in formation.

I have rejected a couple of rather unpleasant "Anonymouses".
If you are going to use such tactics supply an email address at least.
